Kellogg's Nutrition - Get a Taste for the Healthy Life™

Our History

Kellogg Company was founded with a philosophy that encouraged people to improve their health.

  • In 1923, Kellogg hired the first dietitian to work in the food industry.
  • In the 1930's Kellogg became the first company to print nutrition messages, recipes and product information on the back and side panel of cereal packages.
  • In 1938, Kellogg's® Pep™ became the first cereal fortified with vitamins, marking the beginning of the cereal industry's food fortification processes.

As Kellogg Company's founder W.K. Kellogg said, "We are a company of dedicated people making quality products for a healthier world." We continue this tradition today.

Educating Consumers

Kellogg believes that educating consumers empowers them to make good nutritional choices. We have a longstanding commitment to using our packaging to help educate consumers. In the 1930's, Kellogg became the first company to print nutrition messages, recipes and product information on cereal package back and side panels.

Today we continue to provide comprehensive nutrition information on our products, often beyond what local laws and regulations require, so that consumers can make well-informed food choices. Guideline Daily Amounts (GDAs) featured on the front of our cereal packages as "Nutrition at a Glance" is another example of our nutrition leadership.

Responding to Our Consumers' Needs

From our very first product – Kellogg's® Toasted Corn Flakes – to the tremendous variety of breakfast and snack products we offer today, Kellogg Company has continuously responded to consumer needs and preferences by providing an extensive choice of products worldwide that can help consumers meet their daily nutrition and diet management requirements without sacrificing taste.
